Spain's El Mundo publishes article on Nagorno-Karabakh peace deal

The Spanish newspaper El Mundo published an article on the provisions of the joint statement signed on November 9 by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation , as well as the reactions of  the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples.

The article highlights importance of the trilateral statement in the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict citing Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s speech at a video conference meeting with Russia’s Putin. 

At the same time, the article states that along with Russia, Turkish troops will also operate in the peacekeeping center referring to the views expressed by President Ilham Aliyev in his address to the people of Azerbaijan on November 10.

The article also includes Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Facebook post in which he says “The text of the statement is very painful for me personally and for our people. This decision was made on the basis of an in-depth analysis of the military situation and discussions with the best experts in the field”.

The liberation of Shusha a city by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on November 8 was also mentioned the article.

“The joint agreement among the leaders of the three countries led to protests and riots in Armenia where protesters seized government and parliament buildings, and demanded the resignation of  Pashinyan”, the article reads.
